Grindleford Station Cafe was the chosen destination for today’s ‘quick’ ride out — well, quick by biker standards, anyway. It was only 80 miles away, but we were on a serious time crunch. We agreed that a hearty full English breakfast was absolutely mandatory, even if it meant having to race the clock. After all, what’s a ride without the promise of grease and bacon to fuel your soul?
The journey up into the Peak District was nothing short of thrilling, with some of the UK’s top biker roads weaving through the hills — and, let’s be honest, a few of the most dangerous ones too. The A515 through Ashbourne tested both our riding skills and our ability to dodge sheep, while the B5056 towards Bakewell was like a real-life rollercoaster — if rollercoasters were built by someone who didn’t really care about safety regulations.
Eventually, we rolled into Grindleford Station Cafe, just in time to devour an entire full English breakfast each. There were sausages, eggs, mushrooms, black pudding, and enough fried goodness to make even the most hardcore health nut reconsider their life choices. It was a breakfast to remember… mostly because we were still full by the time we had to turn around and head back home.
But of course, we couldn’t take the direct route. That would be far too boring. Instead, we decided to divert through the picturesque village of Tideswell, where we pretended to be tourists for a few minutes before hopping onto the A515 into Ashbourne. By now, time was slipping through our fingers faster than a greasy chip, so we ended up abandoning our scenic route and blasted down the A52/A38 like our bikes were in a race with the clock. The whole ride was a whirlwind of fun, food, and just a bit of speeding — just the way we like it!
