Windsor’s trusty VFR800 was starting to show its age – kind of like him, really. It had been through a few too many rides, a couple of dodgy weather days, and probably a few too many fast food wrappers stuck under the seat. But fear not, because Windsor has finally decided to upgrade to something a little more… ‘spanking’ (his words, not mine). He’s traded in the old girl for a shiny Honda X11 from DK Motorcycles in Newcastle-under-Lyme, a bike so fresh it probably still has the new bike smell, though Windsor’s already working on changing that with his unique ‘mileage accumulation’ approach.
The Honda X11 – or, as the specs say, the CB1100SF – is a 1,137 cc naked bike. Now, ‘naked’ doesn’t mean it’s been left in the garage without clothes; it means it’s got no fairing, giving Windsor the wind-in-his-hair experience without any barriers between him and the open road (or the bugs). It’s based on the legendary Honda Super Blackbird (or CBR1100xx), which means it’s got more power than a jet engine and looks that could make a grown man cry with joy. Of course, Windsor’s already thinking about how he can make it his own — and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s not long before he starts coating it in pink or yellow paint. After all, if it’s not bright enough to blind an oncoming motorist, is it really a Windsor bike? The question isn’t if, it’s how soon we’ll see that custom paint job in the wild.
Sadly, in May 2015, Windsor decided the X11 was due for a very unique custom paint job — so unique, in fact, that he managed to write the bike off in the process!
