Starting from Dolgellau, follow the A470 towards Barmouth, but after about a mile turn right onto the A494 to Bala.
After Bala, turn left onto the A4212. This is a great road that has you winding past a picturesque landscape of forests and a lake.
After 18 miles or so, take the right-hand turning onto the B4391 towards Ffestiniog (caution: this turning isn’t well signposted and comes just after a bend).
Follow this road until you reach Ffestiniog, then it’s a quick right/left onto the B4391/A496 and follow the signs for Harlech. From there, it’s just a case of following the coast road into Barmouth for fish and chips.
Why it’s worth a ride
This one’s a proper loop through some of Snowdonia’s best scenery, forests, lakes, mountains, and a coastline finish, with a well-earned plate of fish and chips waiting at the end. Just keep an eye out for that Ffestiniog turning.
