Starting from the A40/A49 roundabout near Ross-on-Wye, head along the A49 for just over a mile towards Peterstow. When you reach Peterstow, turn left onto the B4521 and follow this road all the way to Abergavenny.
It’s a route that carries you from the Herefordshire countryside into Wales, with the Black Mountains rising up ahead as you get closer to Abergavenny.

A well-judged mix of gentle countryside lanes early on, building towards more dramatic scenery as the road approaches the Welsh border. Easy to follow, and a satisfying way to link Ross-on-Wye with Abergavenny.
