Quatford Food Stop
A442 Quatford
Near Bridgnorth
Shropshire
WV15 6QJ
Out on the A442 just outside Bridgnorth, there’s a cafe with an identity crisis. Officially it’s the Food Stop. Unofficially, depending on who you ask, it’s Alan’s Cafe, or simply the Quatford Cafe. Three names, one cafe, and not a single argument amongst the regulars about which one’s correct, because nobody actually cares as long as the kettle’s on.
That sort of easy-going confusion is fitting, really, because this place has been a fixture on the biker circuit for so long that “long established” barely covers it. It’s the kind of cafe that’s been there through several generations of leathers, several eras of exhaust note, and probably a few complete engine swaps in the car park.
What it lacks in a settled name, it more than makes up for in biker-friendliness. This isn’t a cafe that merely tolerates two wheels pulling in, it’s one that’s practically built around it. Turn up in full kit and you’ll blend straight in with everyone else propping up the counter.
So if you find yourself heading towards Bridgnorth and someone tells you to stop at Alan’s, or the Quatford, or the Food Stop, don’t panic and start hunting for three separate cafes. They’re all the same place, and they’re all worth the stop.
