Bob’s epic return to motorcycling journey really kicked off back in 1999 when he sauntered into Ideal Garage in Birmingham and made the life-changing decision to purchase a shiny new Triumph Legend. This wasn’t just any old bike—it was his first solo machine in over 20 years. For a guy who hadn’t ridden solo since mullets were fashionable (the first time), it was a big deal. Triumph called it the “Legend,” but Bob lovingly dubbed it his “Leg’end,” a title that stuck like an old biker to a greasy cafe spoon.

Bob's Triumph Legend

For two glorious years, Bob and his Leg’end were inseparable, covering over 10,000 miles together. They didn’t just stick to the cozy confines of the UK; no, this dynamic duo ventured across the Channel to France on several occasions. Whether they were cruising through picturesque French countryside, dodging Parisian traffic, or just trying to figure out why the French call a roundabout a “rond-point,” Bob and the Leg’end handled it all like pros.

Of course, Bob’s penchant for adventure meant there were plenty of memorable mishaps along the way. There was the time he got hopelessly lost in Normandy because he thought the map was just a “suggestion” and the incident where he ordered what he thought was steak in a French cafe only to be served something that mooed suspiciously recently.

But as with all great love stories, this one came to an end. In 2001, after countless adventures, Bob decided it was time to trade in his trusty Leg’end. It wasn’t a betrayal—it was an evolution. His eyes had wandered to the sleek and seductive lines of a Honda Blackbird, a bike that whispered sweet nothings of speed and power into his ear. Parting with the Triumph wasn’t easy; there may have even been a teary farewell (Bob claims it was just some petrol fumes in his eyes).

And so, the Leg’end rolled off into the sunset with its new owner, while Bob zoomed into a new chapter of his motorcycling saga, proving once again that you can take the man out of the bike, but you can’t take the biker spirit out of the man.
