This route actually starts just outside Ashby-de-la-Zouch, at the junction with the A42. From here, take the A512 towards Loughborough, and after just over a mile, take the left turning towards Hathern onto the B5324. Enjoy the next 7½ miles, but watch out for the 40 limit.
At the junction with the A6, turn left and then right onto the glorious A6006 towards Melton Mowbray. This is one of my all-time favourite roads in the UK.
When you reach Melton Mowbray, at the first set of traffic lights turn right and follow the road through a few more sets of lights until you’ve gone over the bridge. After the bridge you’ll come to another set of lights, with a petrol station opposite, turn left here onto the B6047 and follow this road to Market Harborough.
Why it’s worth a ride
The A6006 stretch is the highlight, but the whole route strings together nicely from the A42 all the way through to Market Harborough. Well signposted, easy to follow, and one to keep coming back to.
