Take the A4233 from Aberdare to Maerdy and you’re in for a treat. It’s a very short road, just 5 miles, but it’s packed with some great switchback corners that make every one of those miles count.
There’s no time to settle into a rhythm on this one. The road doubles back on itself repeatedly as it climbs and drops through the Valleys, keeping you busy from the moment you turn off.
Why it’s worth a ride
Short roads like this are easy to overlook, but the A4233 punches well above its weight. It’s the kind of stretch you can happily ride back and forth a few times just for the fun of it, especially if you’re already in the area.
Don’t let the length put you off, this one’s worth the detour.
