June 2005 – For today’s little ride out we had decided to head up to Leeds to have a look at the amazing collection of arms and armour that is on show that the Royal Armouries museum in Leeds but as everyone will know nothing happens before we’ve had our breakfast, the biggest decision was should we go the the Salt Box Cafe or head further up into the Peak District and have a breakfast at Grindleford Station Cafe?

Grindleford Station Cafe eventually won and with that decision made we headed out from Coleshill and up to the Peak District for breakfast.

Once our bellies were full we headed further north via the infamous Dale Dyke reservoir through Penistone and then we hopped onto the M1 for the last few miles into Leeds.

Once parked up outside the museum we headed inside (free entry!) and spent the next 4 hours looking at all the fantastic exhibits that were on show as well as sampling the cafe!

Leeds Royal Armouries Museum is a great place to visit and well worth the detour if you’re going past on the M1, it’s easy to find due to some excellent signposting and very easy to park (for a bike!) if fact I had such a good time I went back a few weeks later with the family by car and they all enjoyed themselves thoroughly!
